You may remember the initial launch date for Davidoff’s new Flagship Store in Houston was announced for late 2015, but after the year ended without any word of opening, whispers among the cigar community grew louder.
Turns out Davidoff’s legendary standards were not being met during the build out and therefore opening day was delayed until now.
On April 26th, 2016 the luxury Swiss brand unlocked its doors in a soft opening to the public. The business hours are Monday – Saturday 10 am to 7 pm and Sunday 12 pm to 6 pm.
The grand opening is to-be-announced, but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying Houston’s newest luxury cigar lounge.
How to Find It:
It is located on 4444 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77027 Suite # G150 (click for map), in the new River Oaks District luxury boutique shopping center. (click for map of shops)

If you are on Westheimer traveling from 610, then make a left on Kettering and make an immediate right at the stop sign. Davidoff is just beyond the next stop sign on your right hand side; parking is nearby in the garage about 100 yards to the left or you can valet park at any one of the valet stands throughout the River Oaks District.
About the Shop:
What you will find inside is a one of Davidoff’s most beautiful shops. The layout is much more open then the Davidoff Store I visited in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
You won’t find, at least not yet; the Cuban cigars found in all other Davidoff shops outside of the United States. However, the humidor is large and filled with the full line of Davidoff’s cigars and other top shelf brands like Ashton and Padron.
Their collection of luxury cigar lifestyle accessories far exceed any other shop in Houston. With a 20 foot display case featuring a rich and deep offering of S.T. Dupont lighters, pens and cuff links; local connoisseurs and global travelers passing through will delight in the variety available. (see photo gallery below for pictures)
In addition to the fashionable accouterments for the classic gentlemen, your appetite for humidors, pipes and cutters will also be fulfilled throughout the brightly lit boutique.
The most welcoming news yet is the non-members cigar lounge outfitted with comfortable, modern leather couches, flat screen TV’s and private lockers.
There are 45 lockers available for an annual membership of $3,000. The membership will include a unique box of Davidoff’s Houston Edition cigar and invites to exclusive member only events.
Staff:
Sales Associate, Dewey Fitzpatrick and General Manager, Justin Po.
Dewey comes from the cigar industry in Dallas and is a new Houston transplant for this position with Davidoff. He has deep knowledge on cigars and rum.
Justin has resided in Houston for the last 10 years, so as far as we are concerned he is a local. If you want to be impressed with a knowledge base about watches nearly unmatched, then ask him about his favorite watch brand and what he thinks about smart watches.
Humidor:
The humidor is large, spacious and brightly lit. It is immediately welcoming and offers a wide array of non-Davidoff cigars. Houstonians can take pride in the unique Davidoff Houston Edition cigar. It features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, Dominican Olor binder and a proprietary blend of fillers. The Houston Edition Davidoff is priced at $25.50 and can only be purchased at this boutique.
Tips:
There is a nearby cafe called Toulouse which has a chic, European feel to it that has sorely lacked in Houston. But as we transition to a walk-able city, this sort of cafe is just a harbinger of more to come. In front of Toulouse, there is an open air seating area where smoking is permitted.
If you plan on enjoying an after dinner cigar, Davidoff’s lounge will not be open past 7 pm on weekdays + Saturday and 6 pm on Sundays. So you can drop by the shop, pick up your favorite cigar and enjoy it on the plaza while listening to the modern chill-out tunes from Toulouse.
Summary:
After the closing of the Marque in City Centre, there has been a notable void in Houston’s luxury cigar scene. Although Embajadores Fine Cigars has also recently opened its doors in Uptown Park with its own luxury lounge; the look and feel of Davidoff and Embajadores contrast significantly and each offers its own unique experience that only enriches our city further.
