The parallel universe that I call 2020 strikes again with a dubious censoring of free speech by Spotify on the day of congressional hearings on this very topic.
Today October 28th around 9 pm CST, Spotify censored The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast Episode #1555 with Tim Dillon and Alex Jones.
If you listened to Rogan’s podcast, then you could tell that Joe wanted to have a structure to the conversation and didn’t want Alex Jones going on unhinged tangents or rants.
What he wanted was to treat each top as a segment and provide the requisite fact checking to ensure that nothing that was said, wasn’t verified.
Despite his efforts to be as unbiased in real time as possible, Alex Jones continued to press the buttons similar to Trump vs Biden on their first debate night.
However Joe did a fine job of ensuring nothing Alex said, wasn’t fact checked real time.
Despite this effort, Spotify censored Joe Rogans podcast on the same day Jack Dorsey was facing a congressional hearing on the very topic of censorship.
This is an issue that affects all Americans, regardless of their political leanings. Our country was founded on the principals of free speech and open communication and those tenets are no longer under threat, but facing a full on assault.
If these private entities prevail and are given free reign to control what we see and hear, then it is just a matter of time that we revert to shadows on a cave wall as illustrated by Plato in the “Allegory of the Cave” writing sometime around 514 A.D.
Update: As of 11:36 pm CST. The Joe Rogan podcast with Alex Jones #1555 has been restored.
